Woman health officer accused of maltreating staff

Paramedics in Central Kashmir’s Choodur Wednesday accused a woman health officer of treating them inhumanely.

Paramedical staff of community health centre Budgam district’s Chatargam held a demonstration against the block medical officer Dr Jozzy Bashir at Srinagar’s press enclave.

The paramedics allege that Dr Bashir is harassing them on daily basis on the one or the other pretext.

Scores of para-medical staff assembled and demanded immediate removal of the officer. The protesters alleged that the officer is ‘treating them like animals and is acting in an autocratic way’.

“She is rude and treats us like slaves. She loses cool over petty matters and humiliates every staffer in front of attendants and patients,” a protester Nazir Ahmed said. He added the accused health officer ‘has made the hospital as her fiefdom’.

The para-medical staff members said that they brought the matter into the notice of authorities but no action was taken against the officer. “Director Health is reluctant to take action against her for the reasons better known to him,” the protesters said and demanded that either she should be removed or all the para-medical staffers be transferred.

Dr Bashir however, said the paramedics want to work at ease. My only fault is that I am after them so that patients don’t suffer. It all concocted, I never misbehave with her subordinates,” she said.
